Ghost Hunting

"Ghost", a word once thought to be frightening and often used around a fire to tell scary stories to those listening. The definitions of the word are as follows: 'Supposed spirit remaining after death believed to appear as a shadowy form or to cause sounds, the movement of objects, or a frightening atmosphere in a place. Some one's soul or spirit. A more modern scientific explanation of the term would be a faint duplicate image of something seen on a screen or photograph or through a telescope, and caused by the reception of a double signal or by a mechanical defect nonexistent person or thing: an entity that seems to exist but does not.

Ghost hunting is nothing new. It seems humans have always had a fascination for the paranormal or things that go bump in the night. There are ghost hunting societies and associations in many states. All you need do is run a search for ghost hunting to see how popular this once almost forbidden act has become.

Paranormal investigators have all most replaced yesterday's mediums that channeled spirits in séances. They are this generations, 'ghost hunters'. They come with PhD's and a variety of technical equipment. Meters, which measure such things as electrical magnetic field temperature and the light spectrum. Sophist iced recording devices and video cameras. They are investigator's, skeptics and believers all rolled up into one. All with one thought foremost, to find real undisputable evidence that ghosts do or do not exist.

People may experience a ghost rather than actually see it. They may hear it, smell it, feel or sense its presence. Ghosts have been found in many different types of places and areas all over the world. Houses, hotels, theaters, restaurants, libraries, castle's, cemeteries, hospitals, battle fields, prisons, caves, springs and hallows just to name a few. They seem to found where great tragedy has occurred. Also place's where violent deaths or massacres have taken place. It's seems these places hold the energy released at the time of death. Perhaps these types of places and event bind ghosts for that reason or the possibility that the ghost has some unfinished business. It maybe just as simple as the ghost doesn't know they are dead and refuses to move on. We may never truly know the answer to why there seem to be ghosts hanging out and there, at least not while we are still among the living.

Today, ghost hunting has also become a profitable business and popular pass time. One can take any number of guided city ghost tours or ghost walks around the country. You might also want to spend the night in a haunted hotel or have dinner in a restaurant known for its spooky goings on. It all depends on what you dare to believe and the experiences you want to have.
