Greetings and salutations to all,

This month we are pleased and excited to welcome a new Reader to the HAR family, HAR XianCai / HAR Sylvia. You will be seeing more of her this coming month. Be sure to drop by and wish her well. Also starting her HAR Hosting career this month is HAH Elizabeth. She completed her training last month and then took a short leave to be with her husband who is in the military. We are all looking forward to working with her.

What It Is Used For
In traditional Chinese medicine. A whole medical system that originated in China. It is based on the concept that disease results from disruption in the flow of qi and imbalance in the forces of yin and yang. Practices such as herbs, meditation, massage, and acupuncture seek to aid healing by restoring the yin-yang balance and the flow of qi. and Ayurvedic medicine. A whole medical system that originated in India. It aims to integrate the body, mind, and spirit to prevent and treat disease. Therapies used include herbs, massage, and yoga, turmeric has been used to aid digestion and liver function, relieve arthritis pain, and regulate menstruation.

Turmeric has also been applied directly to the skin for eczema and wound healing.
Today, turmeric is used for conditions such as heartburn, stomach ulcers, and gallstones. It is also used to reduce inflammation, as well as to prevent and treat cancer.

How It Is Used
Turmeric's finger-like underground stems (rhizomes) are dried and taken by mouth as a powder or in capsules, teas, or liquid extracts. Turmeric can also be made into a paste and used on the skin.

What the Science Says
There is little reliable evidence to support the use of turmeric for any health condition because few clinical trials have been conducted. Preliminary findings from animal and laboratory studies suggest that a chemical found in turmeric-called curcumin-may have anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties, but these findings have not been confirmed in people. NCCAM-funded investigators are studying the active chemicals in turmeric and their effects-particularly anti-inflammatory effects-in people to better understand how turmeric might be used for health purposes.

Side Effects and Cautions
Turmeric is considered safe for most adults.
High doses or long-term use of turmeric may cause indigestion.
In animals, high doses of turmeric have caused liver problems. No cases of liver problems have been reported in people. People with gallbladder disease should avoid using turmeric as a dietary supplement. A product that contains vitamins, minerals, herbs or other botanicals, amino acids, enzymes, and/or other ingredients intended to supplement the diet. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has special labeling requirements for dietary supplements., as it may worsen the condition. Tell your health care providers about any complementary and alternative practices you use. Give them a full picture of what you do to manage your health. This will help ensure coordinated and safe care.

Love

Love means more then simply saying I love you.
Love is an emotion that comes from the heart.
Love: standing next to the one you claim to love through thick and thin.
Listening to the one you love even if you don't understand.
Lending a shoulder to your lover to cry upon.
Another kind of love is being a good friend.
Love: to give a shoulder to lean on.
An open ear when needed.
Being there when a friend is in need.
Love means more than simply saying I love you.

Moods of Music

Music of all kinds are like moods.
You have the blues and jazz.
You have up beat music.
You have relaxation music.
All these different kinds of music can go with human emotions, like sadness, happiness and even uptight.
All these are moods that music can help with some way or another.
If I feel like crying than I put on music that goes with my mood.
If I am happy I will put on up beat music that goes with my mood.
If I am up tight or need to relax than I will put on relaxation music that goes with my mood.
Music is like meditation but for the soul.
I love my music and I love how it helps my moods no matter what mood I am in.

Mabon Sept 23

As the summer draws to a close, once again we come to the time of Mabon. The second harvest ritual of the year, Mabon is also the Autumnal equinox, and one of the times of the year when day equals night. In times of old the farmers would harvest by moonlight to avoid the insufferable heat of the day, hence the phrase "harvest moon". Colors in correspondence with nature, warm colors, gold tones, rich warm reds, yellows and oranges.

This ritual is one in which we will give thanks to the Gods for the bountiful harvest of this year, but also evaluate the year that has past and decide what you will "harvest" and keep with you, and what it is best to give back to the earth. It is a time to seek out that balance and mirror nature, work towards an equilibrium in your life, shed those things that are weighing you down.

Mabon is also a time for feasting, friends and family, a time of abundance and plenty. And, of course we must keep in mind the aspects of festival and celebration of nature, and remember to be free and love the earth and all that surrounds us.

Laws of the Universe

38. The Law of Healing. This law concerns the ability of one to channel energy (prana - chi - holy spirit) which radiates from the Source we call God. The purpose of this channeled energy is to either improve self or another by removing blockages or instilling the sacred energy which pulsates from the Source of God. With intent or technique we may send this energy to the past, present, or future. Hands-on healers who are effective in healing have brain waves at 7.8 Hz - the same as the earth's pulse beat. Their brain waves are in sync with the earth's at the time the healing is performed. Another aspect of this law is the ability of one in third dimension to heal self by that which triggers a leap in faith.

39. The Law of Higher Will. From the viewpoint of our separate self and smaller will, it's normal to act on the basis of our own desires and preferences. When we surrender our smaller self and will to the guidance of a higher will and dedicate our actions for the highest good of ALL concerned, we feel an inspired glow at the center of our life.

40. The Law of Honesty . Recognizing, accepting and expressing our authentic interior reality lies at the heart of honesty. Only when we are honest with ourselves can we speak or act honestly with anyone else. In the sense of integrity, honesty entails acting in line with higher laws despite negative impulses to the contrary. We don't need to be punished for breaking spiritual law or higher laws. The act itself is the punishment and sets into motion subtle forces whose natural consequences we cannot escape any more than we are able to escape the force of gravity. When we let fear stop us from expressing our true feelings and needs, we are being dishonest with ourselves and it costs us a sense of energy and spirit.

Pets & Animals

I'm not usually one to jump up on a soap box but when I do don't doubt it's for a good cause. I have been rescuing and dealing with feral cats for over 25 years and consider myself to be a cat advocate.

If you have pets or just like animals I want to make you aware of a bill that I feel would do a lot to help pet owners and reduce the outrageous numbers of animals the US puts down each year simply because there are no homes for them. We are not talking thousands of animals we are talking between 11-13 million animals each year killed due to pet over population. I honestly feel if this passes it will be the biggest step the US has ever taken to help stop the killing.

Currently the numbers of animals given up to shelters has tripled, due in part to the state of the economy. There is not a shelter anywhere that is not bursting at the seems. They have no recourse put to put healthy adoptable animals down.

Even the so called, 'No Kill' shelters put animals down. They have guidelines governing if an animal is adoptable or not. They only keep the ones they deem as adoptable. The others are farmed out to kill shelter so the No Kills can keep their status.

The guidelines differ very little. If an animal is over 5 years old, has any type of medical problem, even those which can be treated or cured, has any behavior problem or is thought to be a feral cat or kitten, they are destroyed. They don't even get a chance to be adopted or live out their natural life.

H.R. 3501- Humanity and Pets Partnered Through the Years (HAPPY) Act, would amend the Internal Revenue Code to allow individuals a deduction of up to $3500 a year for qualified pet care expenses. Qualified expenses would be amounts paid in connection with providing care (including veterinary care) for a qualified pet other than any expense in connection with the acquisition of the qualified pet. The pet must be a legally owned, domesticated, live animal. Animals used in research or business would not qualify for the deduction.

What is your psychic gift? I am clairvoyant and clairaudient... Do psychometry, am a reiki master... I also get visions sometimes too... :)

What is your favorite color? I like the whole rainbow but tend to gravitate to royal purple, chinese red and gold

At what age did you realize you had this gift? about age 10- or 11 - summer between 4th and 5th grade. Did my first card reading with that old witch cards deck for a friend and it was really weird stuff that didn't make sense to me but it freaked me out a bit when we started school and she told me that what I told her happened...

What type of music do you like ? I listen to a lot of Chinese Pop such as F4, VanNess Wu ( who is from So. Cali actually! Irvine boy) Machi, Jay Chou, etc and Korean Pop such as Gummy, Rain, and Se7en... as far as Amercian music goes, it is usually the harder stuff NIN, Marilyn Manson, Nirvana, Alice in Chains but my all time favorites are Aerosmith, the Stones, the J5 and Michael, Donna Summer, Led Zep and Stevie Nicks... then I listen to Mozart, Quincy Jones, Ramsey Lewis, and love Sinatra, Vodou Drums and tribal drums and Lithuanian folk and Chinese traditional stuff ( I want so to learn to play the Er) so I guess all over the road and back... that is what happens when your Dad is a jazz drummer and your mom a Neil Diamond fan... My record and CD collection is pretty wide range and covers the globe...

How has your gift effected your life? Well, I have ex's that could never figure out how I knew what they were up to... my kid's father has warned some now EX boyfriends that they won't ever get away with stuff because I will always know what is up and that is without even spying on them! Which is funny... sometimes it is a pain tho cuz you want to just enjoy the experience but you just know or have that feeling of what is gonna happen- which is why I get readings actually to get confirmation on stuff- OR I don't mind reading for friends but having friends always asking for reads when it is the last thing you want to do.. not fun at times.... so now I only read for certain friends and everyone else not so much... unless I feel like it or there is a barter.. " cross mine palm with golden coins of three and I will reveal to thee thy destiny! " HA HA HA HA

Do you do anything to enhance your gift? I meditate as I can do yoga when I have time and, as I was raised Roman Catholic I pray. I study world religions to have a better understanding of things... I have been thru various initiations in a few different paths from Wicca to Vodou to Thelema (Ceremonial Magick) and back and gotten all my attunements in Reiki to be a Reiki master and currently am thinking of embarking on the whole Buddha Medicine Reiki thing... my Reiki master got her attunements in it and teaches it now...

Do you have any general life advise for our readers? I have 3 things to share... these are all Chinese proverbs I have read and truly believe- 1) " He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever... "
2) "The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials. "
3) " Be not afraid of growing slowly, be afraid only of standing still. "
